Leave Tromsø behind and set out on a journey to a place few visitors ever get to experience — a secluded Viking village hidden in the Arctic landscape and built entirely by hand for over more than 30 years.
After a scenic 30-minute transfer from Tromsø, the adventure begins on foot. Hike for approximately 45 minutes through the surrounding nature, with snowshoes provided during winter when conditions require them. The walk is an essential part of the experience: a gradual journey away from the modern world and into a setting that feels increasingly remote, peaceful and timeless.
At the end of the trail, a remarkable sight awaits.
Tucked away in the landscape is a one-of-a-kind Viking village, created by a local Viking together with his father over the course of three decades. Every building, detail and feature has been shaped by hand, making this far more than a recreated attraction. It is a deeply personal passion project, rich in craftsmanship, character and stories that you simply won’t find on a typical sightseeing tour.
During your visit, you’ll hear fascinating stories about Viking life and culture, discover the thought and craftsmanship behind the village’s unique architecture, and get involved in light-hearted Viking games and activities. Take time to soak in the atmosphere while enjoying a snack and a warming hot beverage in this extraordinary setting.
The experience concludes with the hike back down through the Arctic landscape before your transfer returns you to Tromsø.
