Hiking in Valldal
Valldal sits between Trollstigen and the Geirangerfjord, and the hiking reflects it: gorge walks along the roaring Valldøla, waterfall paths, and mountain routes with views over two fjord systems. Guided hikes unlock the routes that aren't signposted.
Best time: June to September for the high routes; valley walks open earlier in spring.
Local tips
- Gudbrandsjuvet gorge is a short stop, not a hike, so pair it with a longer route.
- Snow lingers on north faces into July; ask your guide before committing to summits.
